Not sure Abt trans problem

Good day fellows, perhaps someone could shed some light on a problem I have with a 47rh auto trans. Last night while pulling a three horse trailer on a three hour trip every thing going fine when tranny drops out of overdrive and lock up and back in again. Kept this up the rest of the trip. Lo0cked out overdrive with the dash switch and then the tc would keep locking and unlocking. First thought was tps but having second thoughts . The reason why is because the tranny temp lite was on also. Even after we stopped at our destination for five hours before returning [slowly] the light was on. Could this be a bad trans temp sensor causing this? Hope so as I priced both just in case..thanks.......

It's possible that the temp sender is bad. This will keep it from shifting into OD and TC from locking up. I hope the trans wasn't running hot and you continued to drive it

Lots of posts on this problem. Do some research. Probably caused by electrical noise spikes. Clean battery terminals, ground connections under battery and on firewall - get down to bare metal. DTT makes a noise filter, $40. Bad batteries can also cause this.

Well I guess its my lucky day. I had orderd a tps at the local napa shop and nearly fell over at the price of it [$238.00 cdn.] came home and thought I better call Stephan at DTT. Told him the symptoms and right away the verdict was tranny temp senser [$31.00] Cancelled tps, replaced senser and away we go, shifts perfect. I did search the problem but only thing I could figure out from the forums was bad tps. Never knew the temp sensor would do that.Never a day goes past but what a fellow cant learn something.....Thanks for the replys....til next time regards...B M.
