No Reverse!!!

Alright, I installed a Goerend Valve Body 2 weekends ago, and shortly after, my reverse went out...fortunately I was at home when I noticed it, so I just turned around on the lawn, but now I'm stuck without it. I talked to Dave and he said its most likely the reverse band that is worn out excessively, and he also said I would have to drop the trans to replace it. I have also heard that occasionally the reverse servo piston gets cocked sideways in the cylinder, and either breaks or lets fluid run past it, making reverse go out. Has anyone had this happen to them? PATC sells Aluminum double wall pistons that are guaranteed not to have this problem, so is it worth the time and effort to do it?

Also, I'm headed north to Canada for a fishing trip next week, and I planned on just dropping the truck off at my mechanics, anyone have a guess as to how much this will cost? I'll probably have the 1-2 Band replaced, along with the reverse Band and servo piston, and the 1-2 apply lever with an HTS one I had lying around. If anyone has any other suggestions that aren't pricey let me know.

Had my rev band break on my 94....Dave told me to get a new one from Dodge. You have to tear down the trans to replace it.

The bands wear, the bands break, the apply piston breaks and/or *****. Pull the pan and take a look. If the problem is with the band the transmission has to come out and apart to repair it.

Gonna ask... How'd you like the new valve body? Before reverse decided to go...

The valve body is great, nice and tight, but since I didn't replace the 5.0 1-2 Band lever it was kinda sloppy shifting 1-2 and 2-3, I'm having it checked out tonight, but will be gone all week for a fishing trip, I'll let everyone know what it was when I get back. I'm also having a 4.2 Billet 1-2 Apply lever installed, its from HTS, Daves is a 3.8, and he said it shouldn't make a big difference, and it is half the price (free to me, pulled it off my buddies wrecked truck), along with the Case hardened apply strut, just cheap insurance.

I did find that PATC (Google it) has a lot of nice products for these transmissions, in fact I bought the brass impregnated flex band, and a billet aluminum double seal reverse servo piston that will be getting installed as well. They're extremely reasonable, and the apply strut from them was $19 vs $25 from HTS...the band was only $32.
