New Rear Napa Drums Turned, .018 and .010 out

Bought some new Napa drums a few months ago, started immediately pulsating when braking, finally had some time to check to see if they were bad to begin with. Napa wouldn't take them back at first, accused me of a bent axle....

Took them to have them turned yesterday. .018 and the other side .010 was cut to be cleaned up.

Its better somewhat, but they bounce in the rear a little when braking.

Is the above specs mean these drums suck period and just bad??? Or should i attempt to get new set from another parts store and try turning those first too.

I'm tempted to take them back, but I just off the phone with Napa here in town and they said once they've been trued, it voided the warranty. Sounds like the bent axle was a ploy to void the warranty.

I called the Orielly's that trued them up, they said that should have fixed it. And in his opinion, .018 on a new drum was way out of round.

So tonite I'll dig into the rear pulsation more, once again clean all surfaces, front and rear rotors/drums, adjust rears, listen to see if the rears drag on certain spots.

You should have taken them back and not had them turned by someone else. I'd say they are probably crappy, but they are yours.

I tried to take them back the first time, I even pull them off, put them in the box and put my old ones on. Receipt in hand and all, I even talked to the manager-owner that was there.

Hes the one that gave me the bent axle jargon. He refused to take them back, even though they were a week old. At the time, I felt like i had to other choice but to turn them and get documented proof that they were out of round. Now that i have it on paper they were out of round, hes again refusing to take them back.

Infidel has stated once before, even new drums are out of round,
I am a believer now. Hard to believe, you'd think there'd be some quality control out of these places.

All i can say is he and Napa just lost a good customer, I've spent thousands there, litterally over the last 3 years. Never had any problems before. If he wants to fool around with me on this, hes said his peace.... imo.

I've heard that if they stack them wrong at the store, or during shipping it can warp a drum over time. Same thing happened to me with my old gas Dodge. Brand new drums, pulsated like crazy, had to be turned and were never right. Did you do shoes at the same time? If so, make sure you don't have the 2 long shoes on one side and the 2 short shoes on the other. They're really close in length and its easy to get them mixed up.

If you had them turned and it still does it, look elsewhere.
.010 out of round you would not be able to feel( I really don't think you could feel .018 on the rear). And in defence of parts houses, we have no control over how many tines a drum could be dropped before or after we get them. I will say I have allways turned them for free if a customer has a problem with them.
