need tires

It's time for new tires, and I was wondering what kind I would be best off getting. I have michelin LTX MS on now, they were on it when I bought the pickup, and was thinking about getting another set. Any suggestions on brands or the best place to buy them? Thanks, marv.

Mastercraft Courser C/T's

Check my pictures for a pic of the tread.

They are real meaty, but they wear excellent too.

Got a buddy with an 02 QC SB 4x4 with Twins/6spd/DD/ the WORKS and he got 53K miles out of a set of 305/75/16's with NO rotations and they had 25% left when he pulled them off.

I have about 6K miles on my 315's and they have very little noticeable wear so far.

I've got Bridgestone Revo's Duelers 265/75/16 E rated I like them they wear better than any tire I've had on mine.

I got 75000 out of the first set of Michelins, 80000 out of the second and just put on six more my 99. I'm sticking with them.
I just put six new Bridgestone Duellers on my 92 but I don't tow or haul much with it.

Go to www.tirerack.com and see for yourself - the new Bridgestone Dueler Revo's kick but across the board hands down over every other tire. We have had them for a year on the wife's Expedition - awesome tire.

I will be getting tires soon for my CTD, and the Revo's are probably going on there.

My preference is the Michelin LTX A/T. More agressive than the M/S, longer lasting, more traction, looks good on a 4wd, and still has great highway manners.

DRM, I love my Revo's I've had as much as 7200lbs. on the rear axle for over 400 miles and they didn't even get warm. Great wear and pretty good ride.

I have been running Cooper Discoverer ST's and have had good luck with them.
Pretty aggressive tire, wear like iron, bite like a son of a gun in the mud, snow.
You could also look into the Toyo M-55, they are also a pretty agressive tire and wear like iron.

Barry Smith said something VERY important in this thread. With diesel engines, if you have anything UNDER (above) load range "E" the tires will not hold up to the weight on the engine, so do not get load rance A, B or C because it is a waste of money...unless you want yoour tires to wear very prematurly.

Thanks for all the info evryone. It sounds like there are a lot of good tires out there to choose from. I search those sites.
Does anyone have any experience with Sams tire depo?

Toyo M-55's, Michelin LTX M/S,or Bridgestone Revo's are your best options..even the BFG all-terrains for a good 70-90k highway miles. I have a set of Dayton Timberline A/T's on my truck now that have 50k miles on them only rotated/balanced once for testing purposes and have 45-50% tread left..

You failed to mention that most of the tires we have listed have a good chance of being "D" rated which is entirely ok.

The tires I listed above on the twinned 24V were D range and he got 53K miles out of them WITHOUT one single rotation and they still had 25% left when he pulled them off.

This isn't entirely true. I had Mich. C rated tires on it then started hauling trees and went with the E rated tire. You need the right tire for the job. My dad has a 98 2500 4x4 and has a set of Mich LTX C rated with over 55000 miles on them with no problems. It is a good idea to get D or E rated tires but if you don't haul anything I wouldn't think twice about a quality C rated tire. To each their own. Of course no one in their right mind would listen to me anyway
