need help with mods
I will start off with I am new to the forum and need some help deciding what parts I need to build the truck I want.
I am looking at a 97 2500 12 valve w/ 197k, manual tranny, right now the truck is bone stock, I know that I want a 5" lift, 35" tires, and I planned on putting in gauges, 5" strait pipe (maybe a muffler), bhaf, 3k gsk, glacier 2 micron fuel filter, a southbend con ofe clutch w/13" upgrade flywheel and upgraded hydrolics, I was also going to have ddp run the overhead on it and set the timing. I am also going to take care of the kdp.
So I was wondering which fuel plate to use (I don't want an excessive smoker), what size injectors ( maybe 90hp ddp injectors?), and what other items I would need to get to 400 hp if possible for a daily driven/ weekend tow rig ( small snowmobile trailer). I hope I gave you guys enough info to help, thank you for you help, sven.

Sounds pretty good, I wouldn't lift it, but thats just me. I'm a tall guy and stock they can be a pain to get into.
I would personally go straight to the SB 3250DD clutch though.
I would run a 4" exhaust instead of a 5, unless you just want it that loud, and I would grind the fuel plate.
400 should be a cakewalk with what you have right there.
Oh yea, that 2 micron FF is mostly for the Common Rail guys, we can burn chunks if we need to.

I would also suggest the DD clutch if you are going to upgrade anyway. With the stage 3 DDP injectors would put you in the area of getting to the 400 mark but not without a turbo on the list.
I like the #10 plate, some like the #100 profile better.

whats the difference between the con ofe and the 3250dd? my buddy has a ground fuel plate, bhaf and 5" straight pipe and he runs pretty hot on the egt's so I concluded that I might need that big of pipe also. what turbo do you guys recommend? As far as the lift goes I always wanted a lifted truck and I only build projects once so I figured I'd go all out. The fuel filter was suggested by lenny at ddp, he said that the puget sound has LOTS of contaminates in the fuel around here so I figured it couldn't hurt
Ok, 2 Micron won't hurt at all, and if you have a known contaminant area......
The 3250DD will hold more, and engage much more smoothly than the con ofe.
Talk to Peter for his take, but for the little bit of $$ difference between the con ofe and an upgraded flywheel, you gain smoothness and the ability to slip the clutch when needed. I think they figure the 3250DD at roughly 550 Hp. , though they are holding more.
As for a Turbo? Man, I wouldn't even venture a guess. Something 62 ish? Go over to the 2nd gen HP board and search Turbos. Your buddy is hot because he doesn't have enough turbo to feed the fuel, not because his exhaust is too small.

thanks for the info, I will do some surching on turbos, as far as my friend we kinda knew that was the problem but where crutching it with big pipe
do I really need that much clutch? wouldn't the more agressive clutch engage harder?

I don't want to break stuff, which the Cummins will do handily.
Stock I can scratch gears thru 3rd, and to be honest I think my stock clutch is slipping when I powershift 4th. That is 100 percent stock, right down to the kitty.
Need to get my DD installed as well.
BTW, figure you WILL break something, it is just a matter of time.
Your call, I always figured I wanted to spend as little as possible the first time.
