My 97 slower to start than my 95?
I have noticed that when starting my 97 (I think only when its cold, or has been off), the engine turns over just a little bit longer than on my 95, before starting. The 95 fires almost instantly, while the 97 turns over just a little longer.
It runs perfectly, so I do not see any reason for me to be too concerned about it, but just wondering if anyone knew of specific reasons for this.
Thanks.

Mine does the same thing. I read somewhere that it was an emmisions thing for 1997 models. They tried to avoid the puff of smoke that sometimes happens when you start an earlier model.
I hold my foot on the skinny pedal and take up the slack in the cable and it fires right up. I get the puff of smoke that they were trying to avoid but I don't have a problem with that.

If I had to lay money, I would say it is because the pumps are calibrated differently, 160 HP Vs 215.
Try giving it just a bit of pedal, the book calls for it anyway.
Mine fires off right away with a wee bit of pedal.
