yea, i have the cummins manuals, they tell you to adjust the valves down on the number 6 cylinder i believe and find the mid point by marking the flywheel or harmonic balancer. Can those pop pressures be adjusted some how?...i just put in the injectors the way they came.

The pop pressures can be adjusted , but you would need at min. a poppet tester for seeing where the pop & checking adjustments , then having a large selection of springs , shims and a surface grinder to make the adjustments .

as long as you went precicely by the Cummins manual, you should have a true TDC reading. putting a dial indicator on the piston doesn't mean TDC unless you take a reading at a given height and then come back around to that height and split the marks on the balancer. you have to account for dwell at TDC

anyhow, it sounds like you've got a good, true TDC reference point on your balancer. did you roll the engine over 360* after you locked the pump nut to verify that the timing was where you want it? it seems to always fall off .5-1* for me... unless of course I aim high anticipating it falling off... in which case, it will always be exactly where I set it! LOL

ive done it twice and it checked good both times, it hard to work on now that i have it wedged in that ford. Im gonna check it one more time to see if it has slipped. I guess i gotta look at some other things that could be out of wack becuase it just doesnt run like it should....i went to a truck pull with it and i talked to guys with a lot less mods than i have and their trucks really scream, mine is definitey lacking somewhere. turbos spool a little slow and it seems like its all or nothin. I can drive down the road with 5 psi or wide open at 60 psi but there is no in between.

how is your wastegate set up on your 35?

I didn't realize you had twins... that's how they act when their sizes are far apart... especialy if the wastegate isn't dialed in just right. are you gating all 6 cylinders?

I ran a 35/S400 for a while on a 98 and it was fun and all and it moved great at WOT, but the in-between just isn't there IMO. My '04 has 40/3B twins on it, and they're a little better matched size-wise, and the 3rd gens do really well with spooling turbos due to better cylinder head flow, dynamic timing, and high injection pressure.

I swapped the 35/S400 setup on my 12v for an sps62 and NEVER looked back!!!!! you wanna talk about 10 times the fun!??!

the waste gate is blocked off and i have an external gate mounted directly in the exhuast manifold which wastes around the top turbo into the bottom. a tial 38mm. i have the pressure regulator mounted in the glove box but it doesnt really make much difference where it is set at. you are exactly right about the middle not being there, actually im kind disapointed. maybe my 35 is just tired, it does have 234k on it?

that shouldn't make a difference, as long as it's working alright. what spring is in your tial? what kind of boost controller are you using? if you're opening the gate too early, it's gonna be VERY soggy untill everything gets lit up!
