Missing/fuel in crank case?
Missing/fuel in crank case?
Engine has a slight miss, ive narrowed it down to the number one cylinder. Haven't had a chance to pull the injector yet. Also after a period of acouple days the engine oil level will rise a good bit on the dipsick, and it will smell of diesel.
Is it possible that both of the conditions are connected? Is there a seal that could be out of the p7100 that is causing both conditions? The truck is a 94 2wd auto with only 134,xxx miles. Any input would greatly be appriciated!

Sounds like a toasty injector to me.
I would NOT drive on contaminated oil. Its lubricating properties are lowered by the fuel thats gotten in there. Good way to damage bearings and the like. And youve obviously sunk a lot of dough into that rig.

I sure hope so. Its not the truck in my sig....the truck thats havin the problems is not mine. Ill let ya know on what the verdict is tomorrow sometime. And yea shes a money pit and it seems that its a bottomless one at that!!!
lift pump?
I'm not sure how the lift pumps are designed on the cummins, but I had a perkins diesel in a miller welder and when the lift pump checked out it kept pumping (somewhat) but at the same time leaked into the crankcase.
on the welding machine the tank is above the generator end, so the lift pump is actually about 18 inches under the tank. at any rate, the thing ran poorly and the crankcase filled up with diesel.
fortunately that was about 15 years ago and the diesel had lots of lube still in it. all that really happened was that the crankcase got a really good cleaning.

The trucks got a new lift pump. So that eliminates that plus i dont think that is possible with the piston style thats on the 2nd get trucks,,,,i maybe wrong tho.
Changed the injector and shes not missin anymore. Gettin ready to drop out the oil and put some new back in it.
