Major turbo problem. Help needed! (pics)

So I noticed my egt's constantly rising up past 1300 and my boost would never climb past 8-9psi. No power and a good constant whine from my HX35. It would take about 4 mins of idling for my egt's to come back down to 300 and I suspected a leak in my IC hoses. Anyways pulled the boot of the compressor housing and this is what I found. Turns out a socket that I have been looking for for the last year ended up in my turbo. I suspect it fell in my rubber boot from the filter side and into the turbo while mounting my AFE filter last year. I never noticed any problems until last week. My question is, obviously the intake drew in all of the aluminum shavings and probably burnt them up and spit them out the exhaust, but what to do know? Any chance the shavings got into the oil past the piston rings. I do not see any yet, but still have to drain the oil. Thanks for your help.

Sorry to see that happen. I would take every piece off the intake side (i/c, tubes, boots, intake horn and grids), get a new air filter, change the oil and get an oil sample done. Ive heard of big rigs blowing a turbo and then blowing up the replacement turbo because of pieces that were lodged in the air cleaner. I have to admit that does look pretty cool. It looks like the wheel was machined like that.

Wow, I'm surprised you were able to get any boost out of that. Ditto on the oil analysis and intercooler cleaning. At least you got your socket back, and the aluminum is a nice soft metal. Hopefully it all blew out without doing much damage (if much of it got into the motor). Good luck.
