Lost Reverse?

I was leaving town today, all of a sudden i heard a grinding clunking noise i mean horriblke noise, came from the 4 wheel drive boot. Threw it into neutral and killed it, and when i was rolling to a stop the noise quit. I drove it home (about 2 miles) and it was fine? I checked for leaks and breaks when i got home and couldnt find anything? Went to get in the truck and turn around and i have no reverse feels like it goes in but doesnt move. Truck will free rev like its in park or nuetral? Has anyone had this problem, or may know what this is? Any help greatly appreciated. I also know great time to build it UP! lol

Check to see if your reverse lights come, if not I bet you broke the rear band.

You broke or lost hydraulic apply pressure to the reverse band most likely.
