Leaking valve covers

Hey everyone
Pulled the valve covers off and painted them a couple months ago and installed new gaskets the rubber ones and now I am having problems with them leaking! The cover bolts are bottomed out and tight! Any thoughts on why? could the covers be bent from being tightined to much?
Thanks
Eric

I had the same proble with a couple of them , you gota make sure they are on correctly and are not folded under the cover , double check that I bet its your problem.

Were they genuine Cummins? I have heard of sporadic reports of aftermarket gaskets not lasting.

Wish I could remember where I got mine...They where black gaskets that I installed 6 years ago...I removed them about 5 times and never had them leak yet..

Sounds like to me that you have a bad gasket. If I were you, I would replace it and try a little black/ blue glue and see if that helps seal things up. I am new to this however, there are many people on here far more qualified than I am.
