Jacking Engine

Just curious on everyone's opinion on jacking the motor up from the harmonic balancer to change the oil pan. That's the way I did mine but a few guys I work with say that it could do damage to the main bearings doing it that way. Opinions?

I've seen it done, but if you did mine that way I would beat you silly.

Lol thanks. Lesson learned. Fingers crossed I didn't damage a bearing.

You probably didn't hurt a thing, I tend to be very **** retentive about things like that.

I had a guy jack one on the oil pan, then bring it to me wondering what the funny knock was............. We welded a bolt to the pan, jackhammered it away from the crank, cut the bolt off and that one is still running 10 years later.

Wish I had taken pictures...
