Injection pump gear nut torque

Any idea what the torque on the injection pump gear nut is??

I posted on the help forum as well, just did KDP (case not cracked!!), and resealed. Everything went smoothly, now she won't start and blows hoards of white smoke. I'm just going over a few things, checking to see what I did wrong.

Any help is much appreciated.

I don't like them to slip and always torque to 165 ft/lbs

all this having been said, would that mean that the injection pump shaft has been spinning inside the gear and wearing?? (shaft and or gear??) I was obviously trying to crank it over several times when priming the fuel system etc.

Did You change your pump timing? And if you did a KDP fix why did you loosen the pump gear. To remove the inner housing? It sounds like the pump timing is way off.

yeah, gear case came right off and was resealed as it was leaking. I would agree that the pump timing is right out to lunch. wasn't trying to change it, I think the pump shaft was just spinning inside the gear, perhaps not torqued properly. fixing right now...

Doubt you hurt the taper or gear.

If it will start, you haven't spun it that far, so chances of galling either the gear or the shaft are slim. You can pin the engine (timing pin that goes into the back of the cam gear) and pin the pump (pin that goes into the pump and locks it to a certain position) to get it back to stock timing. Make sure the shaft is clean and dry, tap the gear into place with a socket and mallet, and I torque them to 180 ft-lbs.
