Idling Problem
Idling Problem
Hey Guys,
I was driving home tonight and noticed that my truck was idling too high. When I pulled up to a light I could really hear it and when I shift it doesn't sound right. It seems like the throtttle linkage could be jammed as it doesn't idle down like it should. Any comments on what to look for to fix this??? I know I have been vague but any suggestions on what it could be would be appreciated. I did have the throttle linkage recall done last month so I'm wondering if it could be the problem.

I am guessing that the throttle cable is fraying and sticking. This is a common problem, although usually the cable stretches and the idle is too low.
Another possibility is that you have a small air leak. Does the truck start more slowly than usual?

Check down on the back side of the pump for the throttle linkage arms, the set nuts on the adjustable arm could have came loose and the adjustable arm will turn or spin and will not let the injector pump go to idle. Goodluck,,Ricck
