I may have found what is causing mystery noise!

Ive been hunting a noise for awhile now i have posted about it before but to no avail, so i was looking through some threads by thumper 549 and i think I found my problem and its not good. The noise is the loudest at 1800 rpm on acceleration but when you let off it sounds muffled like a thump, thump the way thumper described it was like a muffled jake brake and can be felt through the shifter, you can almost count the thumps. Well what thumper found causing this was the oil cooling nozzles had fallen out. Now in thumpers case a complete overhaul was needed. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I found a site that has reman engines 2175 cpl for $6600 complete drop in and they have the long block for a little over $4000. If I was going to get another engine which would I be better off with? Can anybody tell me exactly what happens when these nozzles fall out, does it destroy the crank, and rear main causing the vibration in the shifter?

I would be afraid that with them not in the holes to squirt that you would have more flow out of what they were threaded in to, thus dropping oil presure to the rest of the engine. Wear and heat damage being the main result, the higher presure need areas being affected the most. I would say you are on the right track thinking about the 6600 option, not knowing what you would need to pull from your old to put on the 4000 option, just to worry about this part fitting correctly and halfway through finding out you need to replace half of the parts anyway, driving up cost.
