How to make a work horse

how do i make my 94 2500 12v auto last forever what do you guy and or girls recommend?

Beef up the front end and tranny. Get rust protection. Use diesel rated oil and change every 5,500-10,000 miles. I'm running an Amsoil bypass filter. Probably don't need one but I like it.
