How to disable clutch safety switch?
My Tacoma 4x4 has the best system I have ever seen. There is an override push button on the left side of the dash. Turn on the ignition and push the override button. A relay pulls in and bypasses the clutch safety switch. You can then reach in and start the truck without depressing the clutch, or even climbing in the cab. Once the ignition is turned off, the relay drops and everything is normal again.
Toyota included the feature as a way of crawling out of a stream bed in first gear on the starter in the case of a drowned engine. I have never had to use it for that purpose, but it's darned handy when I am working on the truck.
