Hose from prefilter to lift pump?

Hello all,

I am a new member here, and I am trying to find out what size that short hose is that goes from the prefilter to the lift pump? I have a '98 12 valve. I am new to this vehicle, but I have a small leak in that hose. I don't have any mods done to the truck (yet!). Thanks so much for your help!

Smiles,
GuitarGerber

That is a tough one. The hose is pre-formed so it appears to be a specialty item. You might try a Cummins dealer. Just for grins, give Dodge a try, but I doubt that they would have it. After that, I would look at a junkyard or E-Bay. If the leak is at the end of the hose because of cracking, you can cut off some of the old rubber and make a fresh end. I have done that.

Dodge has that line. I remember thinking that I could have done it by making a loop out of the correct sized line when I replaced mine. The trouble with doing this is that it will rub. I don't think that you can succesfully make that turn without a preformed line or making a loop.

Any idea why that line is so large? What if I just cut out the part with the leak and put in a coupler? What size coupler would I need?

Dodge part number is 04883978AA full MSRP is $4.70, so no real reason to jury rig it.

Where'd you find that part number? I've googled it and searched on some dodge parts pages and nothing ever comes up. But, SOMEONE must know what size that hose is!?!?
