Highway rpms
What kind of rpms are you guys running at highway speeds? I've got to check with my gps again but I think I remember being around 2200-2300 around 60 mph. it feels high to me but I've got 35 inch mt, 3.54 gears, and a nice big flat bed. Any input would be great.
Tranny is from my old first gen. Positive its not lock up. I'm going to check out the gears again tomorrow just to be sure I'm correct. The trans was rebuilt about 3 years ago and only about 20,000 miles on it since then.

Ok so I verified tonight that I do in fact have 3.54 gears. took the truck out for a spin with the gps but was not a able to get up to 60-65 for any long steady runs due to traffic. But at 55 I was around 2100-2200. The trans shifted fine through all gears.
That seems weird to me. I have 3.54's and I am at 2000/50 mph in 4th/direct drive. IIRC i am around 1900 running 65 mph. (speeds are indicated)
I realize you are losing some in your torque converter, but I wouldn't have thought that much.
The following link will give you a rough idea where you should be.

I have 4.10's in my truck with 215/85/16's and at 70 I am at 2300 - 2400 rpm. If you have a non-lock up I would say your TQ is not doing its job very well.
When you rebuilt your trans did you replace your TQ?

That is roughly my RPM when I am in 5th (direct) with 33" tires. I still say you're not getting into OD, or your converter is absolute garbage.
