higher idle after driving a while

I've noticed this a couple times...drove home from work yesterday and by the time I got home the truck ('95) was idling at around 1100 RPM. Shut the truck off...counted to 10 and started it again...750 RPM.

Just curious what it might be?

For grins, did you try kicking the pedal a couple of times before shutting it off at 1100 RPM Idle? My Brownie liked to get corroded on the throttle linkage bellcrank assy. You could usually kick the pedal a few times and she would settle down. I had to lube it every so often. Seemed like it didn't happen as often if I was driving her everyday.

Check that both throttle return springs are hooked up.
Some engines have one spring inside another.
Others have two side by side.

I tried doing lots of different things with the pedal and it just keeps going. It hasn't ever been above 1100...and it doesn't do it every time I drive it.

I will check the springs for sure.

Thanks guys
