Help for my Sick 97 Engine please
Ok some time ago I bought this 97 engine. Guy said it got antifreeze in the oil and to make a long story short he said it was getting hot going up an incline, he shut it down, seen oil and antifreeze in the bottle, Drained oil (Had antifreeze in it) refilled oil, Drove onto trailer and back off then into shop. 5 min run time after he knew about the problem. OK that being what he said (I have no reason to think he lied he is a very nice guy) anyway that being what he said I figure the headgasket is blown. I aired up the cooling system to 15 psi and I dont hear any leaks but it will leak down. (part of the leakdown is my fittings) So, I then noticed they had the front 3 injectors loose. Would they have takin the injectors out to see if the HG is blown? He told me they were marine injectors (That is what the PO told him) is there anyway to tell what they really are? Does this sound like a HG problem? I want to fix that part, Check bearings and make this thing a runner. Any Help is greatly appreciated since I dont know alot about the Cummins.

Could have a cracked head 2, not trying to scare you or anything but running hot is a bad place to be no matter what you're driving. Once you find the leak and fix it you might want to replace your rings along with thoose bearings. One thing is for sure you will have one clean engine, I had a 86 f250 with a 351w that was getting coolant in the oil and that was the cleanist ford I've seen to this day Good Luck!
