i left for IN this morn checked all the fluids oil was right at the full line made it to 80 and was on it for about 3 hr the speed limit was 70 but a lot of work areas so 50 for a llitle over half of it noticed my oil pressure gauge was alittle low from normal when i got to the state line to stop to pay my toll the gauge went to 0 gave it some gas and it went back up so i thought it was the sending unit made it to the IN toll booth did the same thing went about 2 miles to the service station I DID STILL have oil pressure but not at the normal place for the truck when i stopped it was back at 0. checked the oil none on the dip stick so i bought 6 gallons there put 2 in there was oil all over the injector pump and the air horn going into the motor. started up have normal pressure and couldnt find a leak continued on ran for about 30 min at (74) about 2300 rpm it has 4.10 gears saw pressure dropping pulled over and added another 2 gallons right after that i got off the free way and was running only 55mph max ran for about 20 min stopped and checked oil was full got what i needed to get on my way back home i stopped at a auto parts store got 10 gallons of oil and a can of brake cleaner cleaned the injector pump up and still no sign of leak got back on 80 kept the truck at 65 for about an hour pulled over and couldnt find a leak and oil was full bumped it up to 70 mph for about 2 hr stopped to get fuel had to add about half a gallon ran 65 the rest of the way home and checked when when i got home at it was full my ft diff is covered with oil along with my whole truck there is a few drips of oil on the blow by tube but i just cant see 2 gallons of oil coming out of that in 30 min the truck has 220,000 i made a 100 plate and the waste gate is hooked up it have lots of power and starts just fine just wondering if all that oil could have came out of there or if i need to look harder i did go on a trip last year to SC pulling a trailer and never had to ad any oil just cant remember if i was running over 70 or not thanks for any info Neal

I have no idea on this strange problem...Best I could do is bump your post...Maybe someone will have some answers for you..

 

If your vent tube is partially or fully plugged, then it could be coming out of your dipstick.

Also, a couple years back a bolt came loose that held my AFC cover down on my injection pump. lost a lot of oil in a very short time. Same symptoms as you. Rev it up to 2000 or 2500 while looking under the hood. Thats how I found where mine was leaking from.

 

i wud definitely start with a trip to the car wash or find someone has a hot water press washer. i have a leak on the left side of my motor...pretty sure its the Pump but 100% mine gets a bath every couple months to keep the mess down till i fix it. cleaning the WHOLE affected area wud prolly get you closer to the prob. KDP fixed?

 

If you are leaking oil that fast might be oil pressure line to injection pump is leaking or came loose.
