heater grid
heater grid
its starting to get cold around here and ive noticed that when i got to start my truck if it hasnt been plugged in for awhile its hard to start. so i started looking at the wires for the heater grid and most of them have been cut. i guess when the guy before me pulled the motor he just cut the wires and didnt care. does anyone have a wiring diagram for the heater grid? or at least a good pic of the wires and where they go? thanks
The wiring is quite straight forward. The grids are plus side switched by two relays. There are two relays and two grids, everything is independent. You should run a heavy gauge wire from battery + to each of the relays. Then run another heavy gauge wire from the other side of each relay to the grid heaters. The heaters are powered independently by the relays. The grids are grounded so there is no ground wire required. Then you need to supply 12V power to the small terminals on the relays which will cause them to turn on.
Factory setup on my 99 had a fuseable link as well in the heavy wire from battery to relays but relays on a 99 are located right below the drivers side battery and controled by the ecm normally.
