Hard Starting??
Hard Starting??
When starting the truck after sitting overnight, it takes several attempts to start. After 3 or 4 starting attempts (sometimes more) it will start but runs rough for the first 30 seconds or so.... It will then start normally for the rest of the day. If I plug the heater in overnight, it will also start normally. Possibly something with fuel heating??
Re:Hard Starting??
More info as to outside temps would help. Key thing would be operation of your engine's grid heater. If its working you will see a nice increase on voltage gauge when the "wait to start light" goes off. The voltage will continue to drop and rise as the grid heater cycles on and off. Using the block heater will/can warm the engine enough that the grid heater will not come on. Check out grid heater when the engine is cold (below 59 degrees F).

Jerry

my truck will do that in the cold (die out after start up)
when it has been sitting for a long time (overnight) and has not been pluged in
if you cant plug it in
when you first start it just step on the go pedel a little
it should run rough for a while then as it starts to warm up it should smooth out
Re:Hard Starting??
My truck truck done this in warm weather then one cold morning it started up missed and died. I had to manually prime the fuel supply pump to get it started. It ended up being the check valves on the supply pump were bad letting fuel flow back into the tank, replace pump everything is fine now. My truck had just turned over 200,000 when this happened. Also I was parking the truck up hill. Try parking the it downhill and see if it helps,Also it was idling to slow. The idle screw had worn causing thi problem. Hope this helps.
