the washer mod is where u get two 3/8th washers drill them out to half inch then slip them over your retainer that keeps your springs in place. measure your stud protusion first with a caliper when u reinstall put back at same stud protusion

Have not done it my self but am as soon as I get the time. From what I have heard getting the stud length is very important to make it run right and give lots more fun for the go pedal

Yes the washer mod is ok,,, I used to have it on my trucks but have since spent the money and got the true GSK3000 kit, as with the washer mod, the go peddle is very touchy, and if you have to let it run and try to get it to idle at say 1200 cause its cold out and you cant plug it in,, it is almost impossible to get it there. Another thing I found your cruise control will surge also.

To me spend the 120.00 and get the real kit with the springs and do it right the first time,

IF you really want to try the washer mod,,measure the stud protusion a few times to get it right and write it down, incase you take them out. As i found the washer mod worked best with a .040 measurement even tho my truck was .060 from factory. If i remember right, I used 7/16 in washers drilled out to 1/2 in and were .100 thick or close to it. Just make sure whatever washer you use it wont get hung up on the outside spring.

Do not go by protrusion go by clicks you dont want uneven pressure on each side of the governer assembly, alot of people run into problems getting it to act right this would be a cause of it not...
I agree spend the money and go with the kit 3K or 4K.

Auto go 4k GSK
Stick 3K GSK unless you go with the heavier valve springs.
