4" downpipe

worth it over the stock downpipe? i'm redoing my exhaust while i got the truck torn apart and thought i'd get a bigger downpipe if it's worth it. also, i was going to dump the exhaust under the truck pointed down and out towardes the rear tire. is that a bad idea? will it be much louder than with it going out behind the rear tire? thanks

4" pipe will reduce your egt's and it will already be louder without the big muffler and cat in the way. my personal choice would be to run it in front of the rear tire, i just think they look better right there. or you could put in a 6" stack in the bed hahah

i already have a 4" straight pipe after the downpipe so hopefully shortening it up some won't make it too much louder. i was asking about the downpipe itself. is a 4" downpipe worth the trouble and $ over the stock 3.5" or whatever it is. thanks

Personally I think it's lame dumped infront of the rear tire. Every truck I see like that always has one black wheel. Why???? Again only my personal opinion.

I agree.

4" downpipe is sweet. Did it on both my trucks, the stock downpipe is very restrictive

4 inch downpip and dump after the rear tire. I had a side dump for a little bit and its louder than a 6 in stack.

How much hp are you making? There's not much performance gain by going to a bigger downpipe. I don't even know if my egts dropped when I switched. If I were to do it agian, I'd probably go with a 3.5" downpipe. It's a little bigger than stock and will fit better than the 4". The 4" is a tight fit especially with an auto.

I wouldnt dump the exhaust in front of the tire. My truck was like that when I got it and its obnoxiously loud and I really hate the way it looks, plus the blak wheel.

how tight a fit is the 4" downpipe? i was going to get one from summit. sounds like the exhaust should stay past the rear axle. i wanted to shorten it because the last owner did a terrible job mounting the exhaust and it bounces around and smacks everything. guess i should just redo the mounts.

I have 4" right off the turbo, v-band clamp. and mine fit like a glove. I think if your running stock turbo with cast elbow it should fit just fine.
