gettin' some work done

thought i'd post up some pics for whoever cares.
the truck is a '98 2500 4x4 12v. i've had it for almost 2yrs and haven't done much but drive it. my tranny blew up last week and while i'm fixing that, i'm gonna go through and fix everything else too.

don't have a before pic but let me tell ya.. it was an embarrasment.

cleaned up and painted bellhousing

new tranny

i stripped a bunch of teeth off the forward gear set. ontop of that, the past owner welded the 5th gear onto the main shaft. this time around, its got an upgraded shaft that engages the whole 5th gear. the clutch is a pretty new luk clutch that grabs hard so i'm keeping it. also, had the tcase resealed.

and this is what i use the truck for.. besides daily driving.

Cool write up! I will eventually to the same to my 98. Its my daily driver now, and eventually want to pull the motor, clean up everything, re-do the steering, clean up some of the surface rust in the wheel wells.

Wish the underside of my truck was that clean. It will, however, permanently repel water.

How come the underside is white while the outside is black. Repainted?

no, it wasn't repainted. usually they use a different kind of paint for the underside and i guess it's gray. see if yours isn't the same.
progress stays there for a few days as my torque wrench is at my ranch 200mi away. won't be able to get to it to install my flywheel and clutch 'til thurs. i did get a mbrp 4" downpipe and sexy tip to finish it off. the old exhaust wasn't done very well so i'm redoing it.

Both my trucks are white, so it blends in.

Might as well get new ujoints while you at it and grease all the fittings under there. Get some undercoating under there also and paint the driveshafts. Address any leaks and she will run good for you for a long time.

driveshafts were today. front is brand new bc i broke the hell out of the original one. put all new joints in the rear shaft and painted it up.
between the tcase getting resealed and the new steering box i put in a month or 2 ago, all the leaks should be taken care of. we'll see..
