gear box replacement

Hey everyone I just got my PSC gear box in the mail yesterday because my old one was clicking and jerking really hard when I would turn the wheel just a little bit. Any ways I pulled the old one off, but now I am having trouble getting the new one on. The steering column will not line up with the gear box. Does anyone know of a way to help me, thanks for everything guys

My only guess is its the wrong box. 96 2500's have 2 different ones, over 7500GVW and under 7500GVW.

Ok sorry I didn't say this right. I ordered the right one from PSC and the steering column will go on and I can turn it but I am having trouble getting it to slide all the way down. Does the steering column just slide right on or do you have to use a tool to get it on.

sometimes you have to open the sleeve with a chesil. In order to get it to seat all the way. Your other option is to try tapping on it, to get it the rest of the way.

Very well then, thank your for the replies, and now one more question. They only go on one way, or can you misalign it and mess it up?
