Fueling issue

So, I have been on a witch hunt to find out what is wrong with my truck. It is a 95 and has been giving me issues. I did some searching on here and found out that a clicking on the drivers side is usually the lift pump. Checked the liftpump and found it was leaking. Replaced liftpump yesterday to the tune of lots of money. Thinking I am set, I drive around and find the truck runs a little different but not much. I triple checked all the lines to make sure there wasnt an air leak anywhere. Today as I am slowing down from about 30mph to a stop light, the truck coughs and stalls out about 20 feet from the line. I sit there cursing and throw it in park and start it up with a little pedaling to get it going and it stalls out again. So, determined to go, I gave her some of the go pedal and keep the rpms up at 1000 as I put it into drive. Of course I miss the light so I have to keep on the fuel before getting home and everything is fine. So, is this a fluke or is it the overflow valve going bad? Thanks.

Can't tell without a fuel pressure gauge. Get one on and you can verify.

Also make sure your Solenoid is dragging the lever all the way up and keeping it there. They sometimes get corroded and grimy and don't make the full sweep.

Ok, I will see what I can do about the fuel pressure gauge. I had issues about a year ago with corrosion on some solenoid parts so that might also be the issue. Thanks hopefully it was just a fluke like an air pocket or something and not an expensive issue.

The OEM lift pump on a '95 is about $60 from Cummins. They aren't hard to install--I put one on at about 140,000 miles. How much were you charged?

Surprisingly Cummins and www.genosgarage.com charge about half of what the auto parts stores want for a pump.

No kidding $60....dang. I got ripped off on mine. But it was leaking pretty good and I dont want to ruin the truck from low fuel pressure so I paid a bit over $150 for the lift pump. Hopefully it isnt the bad link to my whole deal cuz the truck has been running kinda cruddy since I replaced it. Still working on the fuel pressure gauge but right now I am working on getting it ready so I can get an inspection sticker. Boy once rust has opened up on the outside, there is a lot on the inside. So I appreciate the help but now I need to keep it on the road so I am working to get it through the mechanics this weekend.

Just so you know, our P7100s generally do not die from a lack of fuel pressure like the VP's do.

Oh I realize that the p7100 are pretty tough but I needed to get rid of the leak and I assumed the low fuel pressure probably wasnt good on the truck. I am hoping that the truck with get by inspection without any repairs so that I can dump some money into areas that need some work.
