fuel shut off problems please help

i have 94 12 valve and the fuel shut off doesn't work i have replaced it with a new one but it still doesn't work it seems like the magnet in the solenoid inst strong enough to pull the lever up for the fuel shut off if you pull it up by hand it is pretty difficult to pull it up and it doesn't try to stick to the magnet till it is almost all the way at the top of its stroke i need some help with this i have never had this problem before on one of this so i am completely stumpt any help would be appreciated and i have also tried to adjust the linkage and that didnt help

thanks for the help but all of that is right i have been looking around on line and i think the white wire on the plug is suppose to turn on a high current pull in coil but i don't think mine is doing that according to my test light the white wire is a ground can someone help me figure out what wire is suppose to do what on the shut off solenoid

More than likely your problem is corrosion on the blue wire at the battery or a bad solenoid relay on the firewall.

If you messed with the linkage it MUST be adjusted as below.

i think it is the relay how do i text it is there an ohms resistance text i can do on the relay

it is common for the relay to just have dirty contacts. a little sand paper will clean it right up. it is one of the 2 on the firwall right behind the pump.

On your '94 the relay will be a double one, not like in the picture.
Bigger relay is for the solenoid, small one for the fuel heater.
The relays can be separated from each other for replacement.

ok well the relay is 70 bucks at the parts store in my home town so i would really like to check it before before i spend that much on it does anyone know how to test it or where another one is on the truck like it so i could swap them

A new relay is $15 here> http://www.fostertruck.com/dodge/default.htm
Buy two of them for $23 and carry a spare, they are a wear item.
