Fuel pressure!!!!

All right. I had a lift pump go out so I replaced it with a OEM. Immediately following that I installed a Fuel pressure gauge under the hood so I could do a quick check every now and then. Tapped the banjo at the pump and got a reading of 12 at idle and 22 at 2,000 rpm. I had purchased a new overflow valve and installed it since I wanted to cover all the bases.

Holy Smokes!!! Idle psi is now 22 and it is somewhere around 30-35 at 2,000 rpm. I can't wait to see what performance gains I get if any. I am setting the timing as soon as the DV socket gets here...

My advice is for everyone to think about replacing their overflow since they are under $30.

I'm just sayin'....

Careful with the really cheap ones. Typically you will spend around the $50-$75 range.

I'm also looking at replacing mine. Would you consider the ones available from tork tech acceptable?

hey bill i had a suggestion from a good friend of mine...whos name coincidentally is also...bill....he suggested i use Synflex for fuel lines. just as resilient as marine hose and last just as long for a lot cheaper. my only quandary is how to mate it up the steel hard lines. the pic in that link you sent has it mated up on the pump but the dodges dont have that hardline setup. that 5.9 in the pic looks like freightshaker to me. i am not sure they make a union that wud seal on both synflex and steel

I went through 2 lift pumps in as many months, the second was from Ebay... say no more. Bought the "last" pump from Larry... and got one of these adjustable OFV, I now sit at 20PSI on idle and around 20~25 PSI when hauling 7 tons behind, never drops below 18PSI. they are great for hauling.

I'm not familiar with the Synflex but if you can use hose clamps on it there's no problem.
The engine end of the hoses already are connected to tubing with hose clamps.
On the tank end just use pliers to break the quick connects off then you can use hose clamps. If the tubing on the tank end is questionable with rust now's a good time to replace them with a Vulcan Drawstraw.
I always use two hose clamps with the screws at opposite sides of the hose. at each hose end.
Cheap paranoid insurance.

If the Synflex needs special fittings then maybe in the end it isn't cheaper than hose like Trident A1.

That is the best reason I've seen to get a draw straw - my in tank stuff is rusty on top and I'm a bit afraid to mess with it.
