Fuel line hose and Shut off relay question.
initally it was suggested that the hoses be replaced. Being in California the corrosion is not as big a deal. I got the replacement hoses but installing them looks like a bear. Truck could sit for days and start right up and then not start after sitting for a few hours. My feeling is that it would be a good idea to replace the rubber hoses from the frame to the engine - going to let the shop tackel that! It's clear that my problem is the shutoff system.
The tank isnt as bad as it looks. Let the fuel gauge run down to where you think theres about 10 gallons or so left and get a motorcycle jack under the tank. A couple bolts on the straps and it should come down. Theres 2 hoses and an electrical connection up there so be careful they dont get pulled apart.
yeah I thought so too.. not to mention the legal questions of it. If you knocked off that bulkhead the whole tank would empty.
I need some garage space to take the tank down and try to rig something for a fuel straw. Anyone know if the vulcan drawstraw will fit the older 12v fuel cap?

The rollover ball in your tank fill hose won't allow you get a siphon in.
Disconnect the the fill hose from underneath and siphon directly from the tank.
I find tilting the bed way easier than dropping the tank unless there is a fifth wheel in the way. In that case I use two ratchet type nylon strap load binders hooked to the frame to lower and raise the tank.

my aux tanks are hooked to supports on the bed as well as the frame so Ill be dropping my tank. I thought it was really easy to do with the right jack
So do you think the vulcan draw straw can be made to work on the 12v tanks?
