Fuel Heater Questions

Just wondering a couple things about the fuel heater. one, is it neccessary, and two, does it get constant power or does is run off the computer? I'm rewiring and replumbing everything on my truck at the moment, and wondering how I'd integrate it with the new painless harness if it is controlled by the computer. But if it's no neccesary I may just delete it altogether. Just looking for any thoughts you guys might have. Never messed with this part of the fuel system before.

Generally fuel heaters have a thermostatic control internally. Not positive on a 90 though. It should recieve 12 volts with ignition on. In your area it gets quite cold in the winter and will help prevent gelling the fuel in the pump and filter. I would keep it wired in.
