Frozen ???IP???TPS????
Frozen ???IP???TPS????
Ok, here is the deal.. I posted the other day about the throttle cable freezing going down the road. Now, I'm not so sure. Been checking it after sitting all night and the cable seems free when disconnected from the pump. Had the TPS off and it too moved free. My question is, is there anyway that water could get into the pump innards and not cuase any other problems?
No fuel leaks present, runs great, just something not right.
This is on the 98 12V in my sig.
Going to be 5 degrees tonight, so that will for sure freeze up something. I'll look in the morning, but thought I'd run this by everbody.
Thanks for your inputs.

Boy, Ed, That is a strange one. Did you by chance check the pivot point just above the throttle pedal? As far as I know, the only way for water to cause the problem you had was to freeze on the outside of the pump. If you had water on the inside................well, I heard that the P7100 is kinda expensive......... and the injectors don't like water at all. Try spraying everything up good with WD-40 (which is a water displacer) and see what happens. Did you get the "pucker mark" out of your seat yet????
Just be glad you aren't here where I am. This morning when I got up the temp was -19*

I picked up WD this morning on the way to work, so.... We'll see. As to the pucker marks, We'll have to keep working on that one.
Sure do hope I get her figured out soon. Driving the 89 in my sig. Now up to 29000 miles, but dang 8-9 miles per gallon is getting REAL old.
Thanks

OK, fixed it. Changed the cable and cut the old one open. What a scary picture. Moisture had been getting in it for some time. Cable was also frayed and hanging on by a thread or two(seriosly).
Took the TPS into the house and soaked it overnight in alcohol. LOTS of crap had got in it.
Going in to get the throttle rod recall done next week IF the local dealer gets a qualified tech. They said that if not, they may be able to do a reverse billing to Cummins in Louisville.
Cable was a little hard to find. The P/N had changed. I was going to post the correct number, but the sheet is at home today. I can tell you they had it to me the next day for about $68.00 PM if you need it.
Thanks for the help, and Merry Christmas.
