An extra rattle?
An extra rattle?
Lately when i am driving my truck i have started to notice an extra rattle if almost a very light knock. It seems to be coming from the passengers side of the motor and is only apparent when the engine is warm. I have already checked the valves thinking that they might have been the cause and they were fine. It seems to be load sensative as i dont notice it on a deceleration. It is most noticeable around 15-2000 rpms as long as the turbo isnt too heavily spooled. If i stand on it it almost turns into a knock but is very hard to hear over the turbo. I only notice it when the engine is warm which makes me wonder if it isnt just an exhaust leak but i looked for soot on all the ex. ports and didnt see any. I am used to exhaust sounding wispy anyway or is it different on CTDs? Could it be the turbo goin out or is just normal combustion that noisy in colder (around 0 to -15) weather? Maybe just an injector goin out? Tonite i even rode in the passengers seat to listen better but am still baffled. I understand that the P7100 is a noisy pump but it doesnt sound like its coming from the pump at all. Turbos and diesels are fairly new to me. Even though i worked in a dealership they didnt let me get too heavy into the diesels
. Any help you guys could offer would be appreciated.;-)

Im pretty sure its not. I can hear the LP when i drive down the road every once in awhile it gets a little louder and then quieter. Like i said before this sounds like it is coming from the passengers side and it souns like that from the passengers seat too. What does a turbo sound like when it goes out?
