Ebay injector pumps....

ok, i am in the market for a injector pump but i dont want to spend an arm and a leg for one.... on ebay there are several for 720$ from pensacola diesel... but that price kinda scares me because when i got my cheap injectors i ended up spending more to get quality ones...

so is this a good place to get an injector pump? or should i just bite the bullet and get an exspensive one?

Hate to spread rumors as I have no direct experience with them but from what I've heard here and on other message boards is you have hard time with them if warranty is necessary.
These guys say they will match or beat any price you give them and have been rebuilding injection pumps for over 70 years http://www.usdieselparts.com/category.cfm?Category=64

They've traded a 160 for a 215 four times for me, same core refund.

injectors and injection pumps are two different stories.... its easy to get good injectors... but not the same story when it comes to injector pumps, a diesel shop told me that other shops will rebuild them without the proper equipment, and from what i understood the p7100 needs alot of calibrating....

well.... that is a very good question, i have no idea... im torn between the stock transfer pump being worn out, or the injector pump being tired?
so i have been looking around for a good priced unit. i will probly upgrade to the 215 pump later on, for now i will try replacing the fuel pump before i get into the exspensive stuff.

oh and before i forget i have had it hooked up to a fuel pressure gauge but i was not able to observe it under full throttle, at idle it had something between 15 and 25 psi.... it was pulsing too hard for me to get an accurate reading, plus it blew up after a couple miles of driving. as a side note i replaced the overflow valve and it solved some of the problem. which leads me to suspect its the transfer pump....

Most specs for fuel pressure are no-load conditions. Idle, and 2500 rpm in neutral. If you are just replacing parts, atleast start with the cheap one first. Lift pump is 10% of the price for an IP.

your transfer pump will keep destroying gauges till ya put a needle valve in before the sender or gauge supply line. just barely crack the needle so the gauge rises slowly and the needle will take the pulsing but not enuff volume can get thru to make the gauge pulse. first trick i learned when i got on this board.(thanx Infidel)

I would try replacing you lift pump first. They are under $100.
If you feel that your injection pump is the next thing, I would take your pump off and send it out to get a rebuild and to have them max it out.
There are a few GOOD pump shops that can get a ton of fuel out of the littler pumps. Dont worry about a 215 pump, not needed.

For an example Jeff Garmon uses 160 pumps and gets 800hp, to the wheels.

there have been many cases where modifying the overflow valve for more pressure has caused a lift pump failure. like john said, put a needle valve in the line as close to the fuel line as possible and you wont blow up gauges.

Dont worry about the 215 pump. They arent all they are cracked up to be. They are good pumps, but you can get a LOT of fuel out of even these little 160's. I used to think i wanted a 215 pump until i did some reading up on the matter. There are 160 pump'd trucks that are running low 11's and the pump has never been off the truck(Brad Ponci).

I have a 175 injection pump for sale. If you are interested PM me.

It sounds like you just need a new lift pump though. I would try that first for sure.
