Hey everyone, ive been a Ford truck man all my life but the other day i bought my first Dodge. Its a 1993 1ton Dually 4x4 Cummins 5spd extra cab longbox LE with 293,XXX Miles. New tires, new brakes and ebrake cables, new front parts end and it looks like an aluminum 5spd tranny which ive been told is a NV4500 swapped in. Also it has what looks to be a NP205 gear drive transfer case mated to the 5spd. I havent a clue if the t-case is factory or not, i thought they stopped using 205's in 1979 ish? Anyhow theres lots of little bugs in the old girl.. 4x4 engaged light doesnt work, wait to start light doesnt stop flashing, ABS light wont go out and BRAKE light wont go out. I still have to get this truck inspected to get it on the road so these things must be fixed. If these sound like common problems please reply with any helpful suggestions please!

I'm not much help on the 1st gen, but my '95 has the brake/abs light and I think it's the sensor in the rear axle. I am assuming you have the same dana 80 setup but I could be very wrong.

Good luck on the bugs, I've been working mine out for 12 months and I'm not done yet. But then again, more seem to pop up on an older truck.

If you want more info go to the "1st gen" forum. My first dodge was a 91 with a cummins. I loved the starting because the pumps starts itself at full throttle.
