do i have a bad injector
do i have a bad injector
on my 96 when i start it up when its cold 20 degrees it will have a miss and then go alway and come back and keep doing this till it has run for about 2 min would this be a bad injector other than that truck seams to run alright does and any one know what the pop off specs and for the injectors and what is the best way to pull them thanks for your in put
You can get the injectors pop tested.. my local diesel shop has a gauge and hydraulic pump that they test with. Id guess its common.. dunno.
Theyre not hard to get out. Just take off the lines and pull the injectors with a lug from one of your wheels. Theyre keyed with what looks like a BB on one side.
But mine does the exact same thing and Ive had mine done a couple months ago.
I just chalked it up to initially lower compression and weird fuel metering due to rapidly changing engine temps. Goes away if I leave it on the block heater a couple hours before I need to go to work in the AM.

i am having a similar issue, but when the truck is warm, im getting a rough idle when you initially start the truck then it goes away. not sure if im suckin air or if its an injector. all stock and only 70K miles
I used a sight glass in the line in front of the lift pump so I can look for air, works pretty good.
otherwise sometimes a pressure gauge can pick it up, pressure drops a lot when air hits the line
