Differences between RH and RE
I've heard same about the shafts.
Auto Trans code breaks down like this:
4 = 4 forward speeds
7 = strength of trans. (1-9, higher number, stronger trans.)
R = Rear wheel drive
H=Hydraulic controlled, E = Electronic controlled shift
The input torque rating is the same, according to-
http://dodgeram.org/tech/transmission/4xre.htm
Do see one error, though. The RH was used '94 & '95. RE started in '96.

The input and intermediate shafts are the same for the two trannies...
Its the output shaft that is different. Due to the model years you can not find a billet unit for the output. (YET!!! A limited run is going to be made)
The output on the RH is stouter than the RE for some reason.......
Other than the O/D controls.. they are the same.
