Des this sound right?

A friend had Cummins fit his vacume pump leak on his 96. After the job was completed he noticed a leak from the back of the power steering pump and it was oil. The cummins guy told him that they put oil in the PS pump and it's ok to do this. ***? Anyone ever hear this being done? Im no expert, but that doesn't sound right.

I haven't had to fool with my 96 yet but the vacuum pump and power steering pump I believe have a seal between them that will go bad and cause oil to leak there.

If it didn't start leaking till they took it apart, sounds like they messed up the seal.

Cummins sells a reseal kit for those, I forget what the part number is though. Do a search on here, it'll come up with a dodge and Cummins P/N. IIRC, it is 4089742. Might be 3089742.

Hope they didn't put oil in the PS pump, it's supposed to use PS fluid.
Regular motor oil would probably foam up and overflow all over the place.
