Dana 80 SRW Drum to Disc swap...

I currently have an 80 out of a 2nd gen 3500. I am wishing it was the disc brake version. Theoretically, the base housing should be the same, so i should be able to remove the drums and backing plate, and bolt up axle flange caliper mounts from a disc brake truck. But that doesn't mean its true. My goal is to convert my assembly, then upgrade it.

Other forums and google have not been much help, has anyone done this or know anything? Thank you!

The plate that is welded to the axle tube is different between the disk and drum version axles.

Confirmed. I have both here for reference. Interestingly, Ford and Dodge use the same size/shape flange for discs.

Couple links with OE style disc swaps using the updated flange...
