I believe I know the answer but I wanted to be sure. Looking under the hood of the truck in my sig the axle code is DRL and the desription is REAR AXLE DANA 80 (HYB

I see no mention of limited slip so I assume it is not. when I first got the truck it spun both tires backing up on gravel and i thought it was LS. but since then it seems to get stuck really easy in 2wd so it either is not or is worn out.
So...should it say limited slip under the hood if it has one?

thanks, pacmule

On mine, there is a second line below that one that says Anti Spin. If you don't have that, I'd guess you have an open diff.

There should be an "L" in the code on your axle tag if it has a limited slip.

Also, if both tires have equal traction, they will both spin even with an open differential.

Yeah the underhood label would say it if it has it....
I think the production line code is: DSA Anti Spin differential.

You can always jack up the rear end and manually spin one tire, see if the other tire spins the same direction (limited slip), if it spins the opposite direction it's open diff.

Thanks guys, I think I will jack it up just to be sure. It looks like I'm going to have to figure out how to afford a LS carrier though.
