Will a dana 70 3.54 from a 2000 ram fit on a 1998 ram?

Yes. From what I've heard it's a straight bolt on. If it interests you and you can find one, a 2002 D70 will have the LS and rear disc brakes...as soon as I find one for south of $800 I'm going to pounce on it...

I put a 2001.5 or 2002 Dana 70 into my '95. I got disc brakes and a Powerlok (or was it a Traclok?) in the process. Mine set me back about $650 and I installed it myself in a day.

I also put in a disk brake dana 70 into my 1995 automatic due to a broken pinion gear...not sure how i busted teeth of the pinion with stock HP automatic trans but I did- the swap went sorta smooth as the brake lines were not the same, we had to drill out the stock line and re-flair them to fit the block that sits on the diff. the parking brakes are still not hooked up- lucky its a auto. the speed sensor had round pins and the plug on the truck had strait pins but the old sensor worked. but for $200 on craigs list who can compain for rear disks on a '95

I also used my old speed sensor. My brake lines all hooked up as is. My parking brakes aren't hooked up either, but I have the swage collars and the compressing tool to splice the cable--just haven't done it yet. You got a great deal Joem!

My 97 has an 80 I never thought about doing the swap would having discs be worth down sizing?

Not sure if down-sizing would work, but the 2002 limited slip diff was a big plus over my old one. With the old diff, I could get stuck on wet grass after a heavy rain--and that is no exaggeration. I did the swap to get the discs on the rear--it was a happy accident that the new diff had limited slip.

my new dana 70 is open, while my broken one was a limited slip, i sure miss the extra traction and the drifting on wet pavement! I should have yanked the limited slip 3rd memeber out of my old diff before carting it to the scrap yard!
