cut the exhaust
cut the exhaust
i just cut the muffler off my truck. it sounds awsome but i was wondering if its ok to run it like that. i know they make delete pipes and all the good 4' stuff. i just wanted to check and make sure its not going to mess anything up. thanks and was wondering how it will effect mpg's haha
Cutting it out will not cause any real problems with the truck. You will get a lot of soot on the undercarriage where it is exhausting. Check you state's laws but it is also likely that it is illegal. Most states require you to have the exhaust exit in one of several ways. Downpipes are usually legal, out the back is usually legal, out the side is legal and stacks are often legal. You might just be able to put a turndown and be legal or you might to get a delete pipe.
thats what i thought. i am going to weld the muffler tip off the side so i dont get all the soot underneath haha im just not too sure about the california laws. knowing california its probably something stupid thanks for the help
So many people go with a straight pipe that the noise issue is usually not a problem anymore. With the 1st genners, getting rid of the pipe over the axle is the most important issue. The factory pipe is crunched down flat at the top of the over-axle part for no apparent reason. You should notice a little more jump at higher RPM's and load.
alright thanks for the help guys. the guy i bought the truck from had a muffler put on so he had the exhaust shortened to the front side of the right rear tire. there are a few other flat spots though. but christmas and my birthday are coming up in december haha then the 4in goes in!!
