CTD rookie again....list to look for?
CTD rookie again....list to look for?
Looks like the bossman struck a deal......98 3500 4x4 auto SLT dually w/143K for 13 grand! ;D From what I have seen, it looks like a pretty good deal! We are going tomorrow to sign the papers and I was hoping you guys could give me a list of the top 5 or 10 things to look for before we sign the papers? ???
So far.....I know to look for the JB weld fix on the front timing cover and any oil leaks.....What else?
Also...The exhaust is shot...where's the best place to go for a 4" system? Or should I go with a 5"? I know bigger is always better, but is the 5" worth the extra $$$?
Thanks in advance...looking forward to learning more form all you guys.....

"53 block", leaky rear axle wheel seals, leaky pinion shaft seal, tranny problems, oil drain plug leaks, turbo system rubber connectors, signs of someone messing with the pump plate (if 12 valve). Check out cruise control function, fuel pressure check, over all appereance of truck (does it look like it was taken care of) including, interior, exterior, and engine compartment. Check all fluids for cleanliness and signs of recent work like new oil pan gasket, tranny pan gasket, diff pan sealer, check for wet carpet under passenger side floor boards and below back seat. Ask for maintenence records or receipts, do a carfax. I'm sure there are many others, good luck. Kevin

I would go for and have got a Rip Rook 4" exhaust system with a Diamond Eye muffler and would do it again, good price too. Here is his web site http://www.protintnw.com/sa_dodge-exh.htm
