I've seen that type of heater alot over the years. They work alright. The detachable cord feture is nice. Is your standard block heater not doing it's job. Why are you looking at this type of heater?

I use one like that on one of my John Deeres that didn't come with a block heater. Works just as good as a stock heater.
Many people think this type of heater has a circulation motor, not so, it works on the same principal as the CTD heater, convection, hot coolant rises displacing the cooler coolant.

 

I can get them at $55 CDN at a local store.

If they work the same as the stock heater(no pump), I'm not going to wast the money. Has anybody tryed to run a circulation pump inline to get some heat into the cab?

My heater is fine, just want some heat in the cab.

They won't "pump" coolant around but they do sort of Percolate and that moves some of the coolant around. If you want cab heat w/o running the engine look into a wabasto heater.

 

I imagine you could find a pump to install in one of your heater lines to heat the cab. You would probably need to have a fan to pass air though the heater core to get the full effect.

Even with the stock block heater hot coolant circulates though the heater core into the cab. I went out on a -10F morning with an infrared temp gun. Even though the truck hadn't been started in a couple of days the temp inside the cab was 27°. Not smoking hot but better than 10 below.
