Converting 241HD to fixed yoke?
Converting 241HD to fixed yoke?
Does anyone know who makes the parts, or has done a fixed output yoke conversion on a 241HD t-case?
I want to use a tailshaft mounted disc parking brake, and (obviously) can't do it with a slip joint on there.
Also.. what PTO pumps go on the NV5600 and the t-case?

How did you get your speedometer to work? I just swapped my auto out of my 95 12V for the nv5600 and don't know how to get the speedometer to work because the auto was driven off the transfer case and the nv5600 was driven off the rear end.
Both the auto, and any other trans will have the speedo housing on the tail of the transfer case.
Are you saying the speedo housing isn't on the transfer case??
Which transfer case did you use?
Please explain the setup you used, as this is a little confusing to me.
My truck is a 4x4. I used a nv5600 and 241dhd transfercase from a 2001 ram 4x4. The output shaft on my auto transfer case was to small to use w/ the nv5600. But the speed sensor was on the transfer case tail housing w/ it. The speed sensor for the 2001 was in the rear end.

Is the hole blocked off for the speedo on the transfer case, or simply not there at all?
Mine has 2 housings on the end of the case. One larger one that has the speedo hole on it, then the extension housing bolts to that housing.
I can snap a picture of it if that helps.
The picture would definitely help. The hole on the transfer case is capped off but looks like it could be knocked out but I did not see a plastic drive gear on the output shat to drive the speedsensor. Also called around and nobody seems to make the gear to drive the sensor.
If memory serves me right, the tailshaft housings from the 241 are the same as the 241HD, or at least they 'looked' like they were the same. I just looked at a few other pics I had from my install, and they look the same. Here's a pic of the two housings I am referring to:
Wow, that picture came out huge lol

This is the same housing. Mine has the same spot. Do you know what your output shaft looked like? Does it have a plastic drive gear on it? You can see it through the hole where your speed sensor is at. I thank you for your help and time. Mine definitely has the spot where you could put the snesor, but dont think there is a way to drive the sensor.
To be honest, I never looked in the hole. I just popped my gear into the sensor (just to make sure it was the right one) and screwed it in.
You may be able to use the gear from your old case?
Of course, I didn't have it clocked right, and had no speedo at first lol.

What did your tranny and case come out of? Is there a phone# you could be contacted at? I just looked at a 241dld on my neighbors nv4500 and it has the same sensor as yours. I wonder why my 241dld that came off my auto will not work?
I honestly don't remember what year my stuff was from. I did the swap a few years ago. The donor truck didn't have much mileage on it when it was rolled, but again, it may have sat for a few years after. 2002 was the last year for the 241D-HD.
Your old case didn't fit the NV5600 because input shaft spline count is different on the NP241 (23 spline) vs. the NP241D-HD (29 spline).
The 241D-HD's also have the PTO plate, the 241D and D-LD do not. There are also some internal differences.
I'll PM you my number if you need it.
