Hi all it has been a while since i have posted. I hope everyone is well.I have a question regarding computer chips on the1993 model year trucks. A guy I am working with told me that he paid a thousand dollars to have a chip put in his truck,(1993). I thought that up until 1998.5 they were mechanical. If this is the case, this poor guy got hosed bad. But he did say that the truck had a lot more power after the (chip) was done. any ideas? thanks!

 

Im pretty sure the only computer controled items on a first gen are the trans shift and some other elec items non motor controlling. there are no performance gains to be had from it anyhow.

Might have been a paint chip they installed for him bit it wasn't anything electronic unless someone had swapped an electronic engine into the truck. He got hosed with a fire hose for sure or he was full of hot air.
