Changing auto trans fluid- fill & flush method
Changing auto trans fluid- fill & flush method
I had read about not being able to drain the TC and not wanting 10 quarts of crap fluid staying in my tranny after dropping the 4 quarts in the pan tried the method some of you suggested that unhooks the trans lines to the cooler, then filling the unit via filler tube while the truck idled in neutral.
My only suggestion is get a 18 inch or so lenth of hose to fit over the open end and go right to the bucket with that rather than hoping the fluid will get there on its own as it falls out and sprays everything.
Probably obvious already to most of you anyway but for a guy like me doing it in a rush and for the first time sometimes you don't always see the obvious.

I would flush it again a few weeks later too. there are a lot of dead flow areas in an auto tranny that can fail to getflushed unless you are actually driving down the road.
When I have to do this, I do it 3 times over a month.
