buying a 12 valve

Ive been looking at 12vs and was told that there are heavy duty and non heavy duty 4x4 and have noticed that some of the 2500's are closer to 3500's.How can I tell the difference between 4x systems and whats the best set up to look for? I did find a good 3500 4x dually locally but am not sure I want a dually. Anyone use a dually as their daily driver and have to work on narrow roads-letting people pass-? Is it a big deal? Thanks Chris

The 2 different grades of 2500's are basically the diesel vs gas. There are 2 different 3/4 ton axles in the front.I hope this helps
